For teachers: is KidStudy right for Prep to Year 3?
Yes, that is who it is made for. Reading, Maths and every lesson subject are written for Prep to Year 3,
and the handwriting worksheets carry on to Year 5. Here is what is inside, and how the site looks after children,
so you can decide for your class.
What is covered, by year level
| Subject | Years | What children do |
| Writing | Prep to Year 5 | Print handwriting worksheets in Victorian Modern Cursive, from tracing letters and names to joined writing. |
| Reading | Prep to Year 3 | Levelled books A to P: A–E for Prep, F–J for Year 1, K–M for Year 2, N–P for Year 3. Plus decodable phonics books and Year 1 Phonics Check practice. |
| Maths | Prep to Year 3 | Counting and shapes up to place value, times tables, fractions, money and time. New questions every round. |
| Science | Prep to Year 3 | 25 short animated lessons, each with something to try by hand, a quick game and a badge. |
| Geography, Coding, Health, History, Music | Prep to Year 3 | 13 lessons in each, built the same way as Science. Coding has 4 more on using an iPad, a computer, the internet and the TV wisely. |
Linked to the curriculum
- Topics follow the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0.
- Lessons and maths topics show the content description codes they practise (such as VC2MFN01), and each lesson has a note for grown-ups.
- Australian English throughout: Australian spelling, and an Australian voice reading aloud.
Made for young children
- The child reads first. Help comes one step at a time, and a wrong answer simply asks them to try again.
- No timers to beat, no leaderboards, no chat and nothing to buy. A book or a lesson takes a few minutes.
- After 20 minutes the screen rests for 20 seconds so eyes can look far away. Teachers can turn this off on the Grown-ups page.
- Large buttons for small hands, a choice of clear fonts, and less animation when the device asks for it. We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA.
Privacy and compliance
- Run in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
- No accounts, logins or student names. No ads, cookies, analytics or tracking.
- Progress stays in the browser on the device. Nothing a child does is sent to us.
- Nothing is loaded from other websites, and the site’s security policy blocks it.
- The optional 🎤 reading recorder is never saved or uploaded.
How the content is checked
- Books, pictures and the voice were made ahead of time with AI (Google Gemini), then read and checked by people.
- Children never talk to an AI. Maths questions are made on the device, without AI.
- Kobi the koala is our own character: no brands, games or characters from other companies.
- Spot a mistake? Email [email protected] and we will fix it.
Using it in class
- Free for every teacher and school. You may copy the worksheets for your students, free of charge.
- Works in Safari on school iPads and in any current browser, with nothing to install.
- Each device keeps its own progress, so a shared iPad shares its stars. Sections can be saved for offline use on the Grown-ups page.
