The short version
- No accounts. Your child never signs up, logs in or gives a name to use KidStudy.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking and no cookies.
- Progress stays on your device. Stars, books read, Maths scores, science badges and settings are kept only in the browser on the device your child uses. Nothing your child does is sent to us.
- Nothing is loaded from other websites. The fonts, pictures, sounds and code all come from kidstudy.app.
- We never sell or share information about you or your child.
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Who we are
KidStudy (kidstudy.app) is provided by Examcert Pty Ltd, an Australian company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with KidStudy, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
KidStudy is free for every family and non-commercial. It has no advertising, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
What we collect
Essentially nothing. KidStudy has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no analytics, no advertising and no cookies. We do not ask for, and do not receive, your child’s name, age, school, photo, location or anything they type, tap, read or answer.
The only information that can reach us is:
- standard technical information our hosting provider processes to deliver the website (see Hosting and server logs), and
- anything you choose to send us by email (see If you email us).
Children’s privacy
KidStudy is made for children in Prep to Year 5, used with a parent, carer or teacher nearby. Because we collect no personal information from children, there is nothing for a child to hand over, and nothing for us to keep about them.
Grown-ups stay in control: everything KidStudy remembers sits in the browser on your own device, where you can back it up or delete it at any time.
What is kept on your device, and how to delete it
To remember your child’s progress, KidStudy uses your browser’s own storage (called “local storage”) on the device. This includes:
- books read and stars earned in Reading, and the reading settings you choose, such as the print style;
- Maths scores, stars, the chosen year level and questions to practise again;
- Science stars and badges;
- handwriting worksheet settings, including any words, sheet title or child’s name you type onto a worksheet.
This information stays on the device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. Local storage is not a cookie: it is not sent along with requests to the website.
To delete it, clear the website data for kidstudy.app in your browser. On an iPad or iPhone, go to Settings › Apps › Safari › Advanced › Website Data (on older versions, Settings › Safari › Advanced › Website Data), find kidstudy.app and delete it. If you added KidStudy to the Home Screen, deleting that icon removes its data. Safari and a Home Screen app keep separate storage, so you may need to do both.
Clearing website data deletes your child’s progress for good, unless you have a backup.
Backups
On the home page, under For grown-ups, you can Back up progress to a file and later Restore progress from it. The backup file is made on your device and goes wherever you choose to save or send it, such as the Files app or an email to yourself. It is never sent to us. Please keep it somewhere safe.
Copies for using KidStudy offline
So that KidStudy works without the internet, the browser also keeps copies of the pages, pictures and voice clips your child has opened, and of whole sections you choose to save on the Grown-ups page. They are the same files anyone gets from kidstudy.app, they hold nothing about your child, and clearing the website data deletes them too.
Voice recording in Reading
On some devices, the Reading app shows a 🎤 button so your child can record themselves reading a page and play it back. This only works if you allow the browser to use the microphone; if you say no, or there is no microphone, the button simply goes away.
A recording is kept only in the page’s memory while that book is open. It is never saved to the device’s storage, never included in backups and never uploaded or sent anywhere. It is gone when your child leaves the book or closes the page. The microphone is switched off as soon as a recording stops, and a recording stops by itself after one minute.
Hosting and server logs
KidStudy is hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps, and its pages are delivered through Cloudflare’s network, which also manages the domain name. Like any web server, our hosting and delivery providers process technical information when your device asks for a page, such as the IP address, browser type, country and time of the request, and may keep it in logs to deliver the website and protect it from misuse.
We look at Cloudflare’s overall traffic numbers (for example, how many visits each page had and from which countries) to understand how KidStudy is used. These numbers are counted on Cloudflare’s side: no tracking code, analytics script or cookie is added to KidStudy, and nothing on these numbers identifies a child or what they did in a lesson.
We do not use this information to identify anyone, build profiles or track people across websites.
If you email us
If you write to [email protected], we receive what you send, such as your email address and your message. We use it only to reply to you and to fix what you report, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
Please don’t send your child’s full name, school, photos or other personal details. We don’t need them to help.
No selling, no sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We would only disclose information if the law required us to.
No ads, analytics or cookies
KidStudy shows no advertising and uses no analytics, tracking pixels, social media widgets or cookies. The site’s security settings only allow fonts, pictures, sounds and code from kidstudy.app itself, so your browser does not contact other companies while your child uses KidStudy.
Overseas
Our website is hosted on Microsoft Azure in its East Asia region and delivered through Cloudflare’s global network, so the technical request information described above may be processed outside Australia. The learning progress on your device is never sent anywhere.
Security
KidStudy is served only over secure connections (HTTPS), with security settings that stop the site loading code from anywhere else. Because your child’s progress never leaves the device, the best protection for it is the device itself: a passcode on the iPad, and backups kept somewhere safe.
Changes to this policy
If we change how KidStudy handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change means collecting anything new, we will explain it clearly here before it happens.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you (in practice, only emails you have sent us), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also make a complaint about how we have handled your information. Email [email protected] with “KidStudy privacy” in the subject, and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
